　　Kyohei Aizawa, an assassin for a covert non-governmental espionage group in Japan called "SEEK", is grieving over the loss of his girlfriend from a tragic plane accident. 　　一场意外让达克（史蒂夫·麦奎因 Steve McQueen 饰）即将面临漫长而又痛苦的牢狱之灾，为了让丈夫免于受难，达克的妻子卡罗尔（艾丽·麦古奥 Ali MacGraw 饰）不惜牺牲色相，贿赂监狱的上层官员。果不其然，达克获得了特别假释，与此同时，警长拜伦（本·约翰逊 Ben Johnson 饰）告诉达克，作为交换，他必须帮他一个“小忙”——抢劫一间银行！
